Oliver Wells Takes the Helm at Two Leading Bangkok Hotels

Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Sukhumvit 20 and Madi Paidi Bangkok, Autograph Collection have appointed experienced hotelier Oliver Wells as Multi-Property General Manager, placing him at the helm of two distinctive Marriott International properties in the Thai capital. The appointment, effective September 1, 2026, gives Wells responsibility for the strategic direction, day-to-day management and overall performance of both hotels.

The move brings an executive with extensive commercial and operational experience into one of Bangkok’s most competitive hospitality districts. Wells has developed a strong understanding of Thailand’s hotel market during a career spanning Phuket, Khao Lak and Bangkok, with particular strengths in sales, marketing, leadership and business development. From Phuket to Senior Hotel Leadership

Wells began his hospitality career in Phuket, where he developed experience across both the commercial and operational sides of the hotel business. His career later brought him to Bangkok and increasingly senior management responsibilities, while his involvement in networking, conferences and major business events helped shape his interest in leadership and team development.

A significant chapter in his career began in 2018, when he joined JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa as Director of Sales. He was subsequently promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing, taking on a broader commercial leadership role at the beachfront resort.

During his years in Khao Lak, Wells played an important part in strengthening the property’s position in Thailand’s luxury hospitality sector while also helping expand its appeal within the MICE market — meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.

The resort went on to achieve considerable industry recognition, including being ranked Thailand’s No. 1 property in the Best Beach + Island Resorts category of the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific for three consecutive years.

Major Projects and Industry Recognition

Wells’ responsibilities have extended beyond conventional sales and marketing. He has been involved in major strategic projects and new developments designed to broaden the resort experience and strengthen its long-term market position.

Among these was the opening of JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites in 2022, an important expansion of the property’s accommodation offering. He was also involved in the development of the 27-acre JW Garden in 2024, adding another dimension to the resort’s guest experience.

His individual performance has also attracted recognition within Marriott International. Wells received the Marriott International Elite Award for Sales Special Achievement Leader of the Year in 2023 and was recognized as a Top Performer in 2025.

These achievements provide a strong commercial foundation for his latest assignment, which presents a different challenge: simultaneously leading two Bangkok hotels with individual identities, locations and target markets.

Two Bangkok Hotels, Two Distinctive Experiences

At Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Sukhumvit 20, Wells takes responsibility for a contemporary property positioned to serve both business and leisure travelers in the heart of Bangkok’s Sukhumvit district. Its location puts guests within easy reach of shopping, dining, entertainment and major commercial areas, making the hotel relevant to several important Bangkok visitor segments.

Madi Paidi Bangkok, Autograph Collection, meanwhile, presents a more intimate boutique proposition. Located in Thonglor, one of Bangkok’s best-known lifestyle neighborhoods, the hotel draws inspiration from the area’s creative character, fashionable dining scene and energetic urban atmosphere.

Managing the two properties together will require Wells to maintain their individual positioning while finding opportunities for operational efficiencies, stronger commercial strategies and shared management expertise.
