Bangkok’s dining scene has never been short of ambition. New restaurants arrive with experimental tasting menus, theatrical interiors, cross-cultural concepts, and increasingly elaborate presentations. Yet amid the constant search for something new, there is still considerable pleasure in returning to food that has survived generations. At ARTUR Restaurant, located at Bliston Suwan Park View Hotel & Serviced Residence on Soi Ton Son, classic French cooking, serious steaks, tableside preparation, and old-school hospitality remain firmly at the heart of dinner.

ARTUR has been part of Bangkok’s restaurant landscape since 2009, building its identity around a style of dining that has become increasingly difficult to find. Starched tablecloths, comfortable banquettes, subdued lighting, polished service, and dishes finished or carved in front of guests establish a distinctly traditional atmosphere. Rather than chasing every passing culinary fashion, this Bangkok Hotel Dining news report finds the restaurant leaning confidently into the rituals that made European fine dining memorable in the first place.
French Classics Without the Reinvention
The attraction begins with a menu that does not feel compelled to deconstruct familiar dishes or disguise their origins.
Burgundy escargots, lobster bisque, foie gras, Dover sole, Beef Wellington, steak tartare, and substantial cuts of beef all belong to a culinary vocabulary that diners immediately recognize. These are dishes built around technique, quality ingredients, sauces, and careful preparation rather than novelty for novelty’s sake.
For meat lovers, ARTUR has long been particularly associated with steak. Premium beef selections include Australian Black Angus and Wagyu, alongside imposing cuts intended to be shared. The Côte de Bœuf, grilled over lava stone and carved tableside, captures much of what the restaurant is about: good beef, straightforward cooking, confident service, and a little ceremony before the first bite.

Classic accompaniments continue the theme. Depending on the selection, steaks can be paired with sauces such as Béarnaise, peppercorn, Roquefort, foie gras, or Café de Paris, while traditional sides provide the rich, comforting counterpoint expected of a serious steak dinner.
Café de Paris Turns Dinner into an Occasion
The Café de Paris Steak experience provides an especially fitting introduction to ARTUR’s style.
Rather than simply placing a steak in front of the diner, the experience unfolds through several courses. A classic opening leads toward the centerpiece of premium beef served with the famously rich Café de Paris sauce and fries before dessert brings the evening back to another enduring French favorite.
Crêpes Suzette, served with vanilla ice cream, provides precisely the sort of finish that suits ARTUR. It is familiar, indulgent, and connected to a period when dessert could provide its own piece of dining-room theater.
That theatrical element is important because ARTUR is not simply preserving old recipes. It is also preserving the interaction between the dining room and the kitchen.
When Tableside Service Was Part of Dinner
Modern restaurants frequently place enormous attention on plating, but much of that work is completed beyond the diner’s view. Traditional fine dining was different. Carving, tossing, saucing, flambéing, and finishing dishes beside the table allowed guests to watch service professionals demonstrate their craft.
ARTUR continues to embrace that tradition.

Steaks may be carved in front of diners, Caesar salad can become a tableside preparation rather than something arriving anonymously from the kitchen, and classic dishes gain an extra dimension through direct interaction with the service team.
Owner Artur Kluczewski has long been central to that personality. His presence in the dining room reinforces an increasingly uncommon style of hospitality in which the restaurateur is not a distant name attached to a concept but a visible host who talks to guests, discusses the menu, and occasionally becomes part of the service himself.
The Silver Duck Press Takes Center Stage
Nothing demonstrates ARTUR’s commitment to traditional French dining quite like Canard au Sang, or Pressed Duck.
This historic preparation is not designed for diners looking for a quick meal. It is culinary ceremony.
The duck is carved tableside before the remaining carcass is placed inside a formidable Christofle silver duck press. Pressure extracts intensely flavored juices that become part of a rich sauce traditionally incorporating elements such as red wine, Cognac, and butter.
The resulting dish belongs to a much older and more elaborate school of French gastronomy, one that requires specialist equipment, technique, time, and an audience willing to appreciate the process.
ARTUR says it offers Thailand’s only traditional pressed-duck service of this kind. Regardless of whether diners order it themselves, seeing the gleaming silver press brought into the dining room provides a glimpse of a style of restaurant service that has largely vanished elsewhere.

A Steakhouse with a French Accent
Calling ARTUR simply a French restaurant does not quite describe it. There is also something of the traditional Manhattan steakhouse in its personality.
Large cuts of beef, comfortable booths, substantial sauces, a serious wine selection, and attentive but personable service give the restaurant a character that sits somewhere between Paris and New York.
That combination has helped ARTUR remain distinctive as Bangkok’s dining scene has evolved around it.
The restaurant’s wine cellar is another important part of the experience, with more than 120 labels providing plenty of scope for pairing with beef, foie gras, duck, and other richly flavored dishes.
Why Old-School French Dining Still Has a Place
Perhaps ARTUR’s greatest strength today is that it does not pretend to be something it is not.
There are occasions when diners want culinary experimentation, unexpected combinations, and highly conceptual tasting menus. There are other evenings when what sounds appealing is a beautifully cooked steak, a proper sauce, a good bottle of wine, a comfortable table, and someone carving dinner in front of you.
ARTUR exists firmly in the latter world.
Its setting at Bliston Suwan Park View Hotel & Serviced Residence also places it conveniently within central Bangkok. The restaurant is located at 9 Soi Ton Son, off Ploenchit Road, within walking distance of BTS Chit Lom and Central Embassy. Dinner is currently served daily from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., while lunch can be arranged upon advance request.
Some Dining Traditions Are Worth Keeping
In a restaurant industry constantly encouraged to reinvent itself, ARTUR offers a persuasive reminder that longevity can have its own appeal. French classics, premium steaks, silver-service traditions, tableside carving, elaborate sauces, and direct interaction between restaurateur and guest may belong to an earlier era of fine dining, but that does not make them obsolete.
If anything, their increasing rarity makes the experience more distinctive. Watching a steak being carved, seeing a Caesar salad prepared beside the table, or witnessing a traditional silver duck press in action changes dinner from a sequence of plates into something more personal and memorable. ARTUR’s enduring appeal lies in understanding that fine dining is not only about what arrives on the plate; it is also about anticipation, service, conversation, craftsmanship, and the pleasure of allowing an evening to unfold without rushing it.
