Set along a pristine 12-kilometre stretch of shoreline known globally as one of the three famous “Singing Beaches,” the 90-room resort is a joint development between Minor Hotels, Funyard Minor, and Chongqing Yuanchu Luquan Cultural Tourism Group. This Hotel News report highlights that the property will be nestled in Lingshui Li Autonomous County, just 35 kilometres from the heart of Sanya, offering not just sun and sea, but also rich local heritage and cultural immersion for discerning travelers.
A Destination Where Culture Meets Coastal Luxury
The planned Anantara Clear Water Bay Sanya Resort will feature rooms and suites ranging in size from 60 to a generous 240 square metres. Visitors can expect luxurious accommodations complemented by Anantara’s signature blend of wellness and local flavor. A wide range of dining options will cater to all palates, and the resort will also include the iconic Anantara Spa, a full-service wellness centre, an outdoor pool, and an entertainment facility.
For those looking to host events, the resort boasts a 400-square-metre function hall and a scenic 350-square-metre outdoor lawn—perfect for weddings, corporate retreats, and social gatherings. All this is set against the backdrop of the region’s lush natural beauty and vibrant local culture, which includes folk festivals, traditional bamboo weaving, and native Li music.
Nearby attractions will further enhance the guest experience. These include the idyllic Fenjiezhou Island, the powdery white sands of Qingshui Bay, the cheeky residents of Nanwan Monkey Island, and the marine life wonderland that is R&F Ocean World.
A Shared Vision of Elevated Tourism in Hainan
Eddy Tiftik, Vice President of Business Development for Greater China at Minor Hotels and Director of Funyard Minor, expressed confidence in the project’s future. “We are honored to partner with Chongqing Yuanchu Luquan Cultural Tourism Group to develop Anantara Clear Water Bay Sanya Resort into a new flagship leisure destination in China,” he said. “This marks an important step in the expansion of Anantara’s brand in China and demonstrates our commitment to promoting sustainable tourism development in Hainan Province.”
The project is aligned with Lingshui’s ‘2+7+3+N’ integrated development blueprint—a comprehensive tourism-driven growth strategy that encourages investment in eco-conscious luxury developments.
Mr. Liu Yuanchu, Chairman of Chongqing Yuanchu Luquan Cultural Tourism Group, echoed the excitement. “Clear Water Bay will be a luxurious destination that seamlessly blends nature and local culture,” he noted. “With features such as a world-class golf course, yacht marina, fishing village, and tropical botanical gardens, we aim to attract global travelers and position Hainan as a must-visit destination with Anantara leading the way.”
Minor Hotels Solidifies Growth Strategy in China
Minor Hotels, part of the broader Minor International (MINT) conglomerate, has been a driving force in global hospitality since its beginnings in 1978. The Anantara brand, launched in 2001, has become synonymous with sophisticated luxury deeply rooted in Thai hospitality traditions. Currently, Minor Hotels operates over 50 Anantara properties worldwide.
In China, Minor Hotels is steadily expanding. It already operates four properties—two Anantara resorts in Guiyang and Xishuangbanna, and two urban hotels in Chengdu under the Oaks and Tivoli names. The signing of the Clear Water Bay Sanya Resort comes shortly after announcements for new Anantara projects in Xiling Snow Mountain (Chengdu) and Thousand Island Lake, with a strategic goal of opening 15 hotels across China in the next three years.
Anantara’s New Jewel Promises to Shine Bright on the Chinese Riviera
The upcoming Anantara Clear Water Bay Sanya Resort is more than just another luxury hotel project—it represents the evolution of high-end tourism in China. With its fusion of natural wonder, cultural richness, and impeccable service standards, the resort is set to attract international jet-setters and regional luxury seekers alike. As Minor Hotels continues its calculated push into the Chinese market, this resort could very well become the Anantara brand’s crown jewel in East Asia.
Its success is likely to hinge on Hainan’s continued popularity as a tropical escape and China’s growing appetite for wellness-oriented travel with a cultural twist. In blending local identity with global luxury, Minor Hotels is not just building resorts—they’re reshaping the future of destination tourism.
