YOTEL, the forward-thinking hospitality brand known for merging technology with comfort, has officially announced that it will open its first hotel in Bangkok by the end of 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the brand as it enters the Thai market at a time when the capital’s hospitality and tech sectors are experiencing rapid transformation.

The new YOTEL Bangkok will be located in South Sukhumvit, one of the city’s most dynamic and evolving neighborhoods. It will form part of the groundbreaking Cloud 11 development, a sprawling 250,000 square meter mixed-use project developed by the award-winning property group MQDC. Cloud 11 is being hailed as Southeast Asia’s largest and most ambitious hub for creators, artists, and digital innovators. With an estimated investment exceeding USD 1.2 billion, the complex is expected to become a landmark for Bangkok and the wider region.

YOTEL’s choice to anchor itself in Cloud 11 aligns seamlessly with its brand ethos of smart design, innovation, and efficiency. This Bangkok Hotel News report confirms that the new property will feature 250 tech-enhanced rooms equipped with the brand’s signature SmartBeds™, adjustable for maximum comfort. Guests will also experience seamless self-check-in via digital kiosks, supported by the futuristic YOBOT luggage robot, room service robots, and other AI-driven amenities.

Beyond rooms, the hotel will offer a co-living and co-working dining area, a fully equipped 24-hour gym, two multi-use meeting rooms, and a convenient Grab+Go snack station. A standout feature is the sky bar on the 23rd floor, which will serve as a social hotspot with breathtaking views of Bang Krachao—Bangkok’s renowned “green lung.” YOTEL Bangkok is set to cater not only to travelers but also to digital nomads, content creators, and locals seeking an urban escape infused with creativity and cutting-edge design.

YOTEL’s Growing Global Footprint

YOTEL’s Bangkok debut is part of a much broader international growth strategy that sees the brand expanding into new and emerging markets while reinforcing its position in established ones. Over the next two years, the brand will also be opening new properties in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

Malaysia and Saudi Arabia Join the YOTEL Map

In 2026, Kuala Lumpur will welcome its own YOTEL in the heart of the city’s Central Business District. This 290-room property will include the brand’s now-standard tech-infused features along with amenities such as a rooftop pool and bar, collaborative co-working spaces, a modern fitness center, and another Grab+Go station. The location was chosen for its accessibility and proximity to both corporate and leisure hubs, making it ideal for Malaysia’s growing base of business travelers and digital entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia, YOTEL is planning its first property in the Kingdom’s highly anticipated NEOM city, a futuristic smart metropolis designed as part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The hotel will be situated in Oxagon, the innovation and research district of NEOM, reflecting YOTEL’s commitment to integrating itself within the world’s most tech-forward developments. Guests can expect an immersive experience where digital services and AI functionality redefine traditional hotel stays.

Tokyo Flagship Launches YOTEL’s Japan Expansion

YOTEL made headlines in December 2024 with the opening of its flagship property in Japan—YOTEL Tokyo Ginza. Perfectly situated near Tokyo Station in the upscale Ginza district, the hotel marks a critical entry point into the Japanese hospitality market. Developed in collaboration with Frasers Hospitality, YOTEL Tokyo Ginza features 244 modern rooms, including family-friendly configurations and floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views of Tokyo Tower and the bustling Shinkansen network.

The hotel’s public areas include Komyuniti, a stylish dining and bar venue focused on global cuisine with local flair—serving everything from sake to soju. Guests benefit from 24/7 gym access, digital check-in, and robotic concierge services that reflect Japan’s own reputation for innovation. As one of YOTEL’s most ambitious properties in Asia, this opening has set the stage for additional regional expansions, including the upcoming hotels in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and NEOM.

A Bold New Chapter in the UK and Ireland

Looking west, YOTEL is also strengthening its presence in the United Kingdom and Ireland. A notable development is the planned opening of YOTEL Belfast in late 2026. The hotel, developed in partnership with Andras Hotels—Northern Ireland’s largest hospitality group—will feature 165 rooms in the city’s vibrant Shaftesbury Square district.

Positioned near cultural landmarks such as Queen’s University and the Botanic Gardens, YOTEL Belfast is designed for both tourists and locals. It will showcase the brand’s hallmark SmartBeds™, high-tech check-in systems, and Urban Jungle bathroom amenities. A community-focused food and beverage space, flexible meeting facilities, and a 24-hour gym round out the offering. Local designers have been commissioned to infuse Belfast’s rich history into the décor, blending heritage with contemporary elegance.

In London, YOTEL’s existing City hotel is undergoing a major revamp aimed at enhancing guest experience and functionality. Scheduled for completion by April 2025, the updates include a redesigned Mission Control reception area, additional check-in kiosks, and a refreshed Revolve bar and lounge. Inspired by Clerkenwell’s watchmaking legacy, the redesign will incorporate timeless elements that blend craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. These upgrades reaffirm YOTEL’s dedication to evolving alongside traveler expectations.

YOTEL’s Vision and Global Strategy

Hubert Viriot, CEO of YOTEL, expressed enthusiasm about the brand’s growing global footprint. “We’re delighted to be launching YOTEL in Tokyo this December. Not only do we have a brilliant hotel in a prime location in one of the world’s greatest cities, we’re also excited to be opening in a destination that shares our commitment to innovation, smart design and the creative use of technology,” he stated.

Highlighting the brand’s strategic outlook, Viriot added that Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and NEOM are pivotal locations in the next phase of expansion. “We have strong ambitions to continue growing the YOTEL footprint throughout the region,” he said.

Currently, YOTEL operates 23 hotels across the globe under three distinctive brands—YOTEL (urban city hotels), YOTELPAD (extended stay accommodations), and YOTELAIR (airport hotels). These properties span major cities and travel hubs including New York, San Francisco, Miami, Singapore, Istanbul, Amsterdam, and London. The company also has 11 new properties slated to open within the next two years in destinations such as Lisbon, New York, Perth, and now, Bangkok.

Founded by Simon Woodroffe OBE, YOTEL is backed by prominent investors, including an affiliate of Starwood Capital Group, the Talal Jassim Al-Bahar Group, United Investment Portugal, and Kuwait Real Estate Co. The Al-Bahar Group has been a shareholder since YOTEL’s inception in 2005 and took a majority stake in 2013.
