Expanding Capacity for Global Events
With an investment estimated at over THB 5 billion, the project aims to increase accommodation capacity in Muang Thong Thani to 5,000 rooms within the next decade. At present, the complex operates two hotels: the Novotel Bangkok IMPACT with 380 rooms and the ibis Bangkok IMPACT with 587 rooms. The addition of Hilton Hotel and a sister property will not only expand the hospitality offering but also help accommodate the growing wave of international visitors and event organizers.
Anchoring Thailand’s Mega Project Aspirations
The new hotels align closely with Thailand’s vision to attract a 100-billion-baht entertainment complex mega-project. Paul Kanjanapas, CEO of IMPACT Exhibition Management and property manager of IMPACT Growth Real Estate Investment Trust, explained that while the original plan was centered on the entertainment complex, hotel development is moving forward due to uncertainty around government timelines. By focusing on immediate infrastructure needs, IMPACT aims to secure its place as a top regional hub.
Raising the Bar in Hospitality
The Hilton Hotel will deliver a luxury five-star experience with over 300 rooms, complemented by a four-star hotel offering more than 600 rooms. Together, they form the core of IMPACT’s short-term expansion plan. Looking further ahead, the company envisions growing total capacity to 2,000 rooms by 2028, then 3,000 by 2030, and ultimately 5,000 rooms by 2035. This surge in inventory is intended to prevent lost opportunities, as in the past when limited capacity forced IMPACT to decline hosting major global events.
Riding Momentum in the MICE Sector
The expansion arrives at an opportune time, with MICE tourism experiencing a strong resurgence. IMPACT Arena and its associated venues have seen full bookings for 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels, while overall revenue for the IMPACT Growth REIT is projected to rise by 25% in fiscal 2024. The addition of Hilton Hotel will ensure the complex is fully equipped to handle record-breaking demand and high-profile events in the years ahead.
Improved Connectivity and International Reach
The strategic location of Hilton Hotel at IMPACT will be further enhanced by improved transportation links. Two new Pink Line electric train stations, co-funded with a THB 1.2 billion investment, are scheduled to open in May 2025. With IMPACT already attracting nearly 10 million visitors annually and focusing on the Chinese and Indian markets, this new connectivity combined with a globally renowned hospitality brand is set to boost Thailand’s international profile significantly.
Setting a New Standard in Thailand’s Hospitality Scene
The debut of Hilton Hotel at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center represents more than just expanded room capacity. It is a signal of Thailand’s ambitions to solidify its standing as a world-class destination for meetings, events, and international tourism. By combining visionary infrastructure planning with the prestige of a Hilton property, Muang Thong Thani is poised to attract larger and more prestigious events than ever before. This landmark development reflects Thailand’s confidence in its recovery and its determination to capture the future of global travel and business.
